When I use the term "super shoe," I am referring to shoes with carbon-fiber plates and super light "next gen" foams that combine cushioning and energy return beyond that of earlier models. They've rewritten the record books over the past few years as they promote more efficient running at faster paces and faster recovery during training. I spent enough of my running life without these shoes that wearing them can feel like "cheating," despite their widespread adoption and regulation by the governing bodies of Track and Field.
